Five charities to get new donated sweat shirts

NIAGARA FALLS -- Five charitable organizations will receive large donations of new sweat shirts today and Friday from SJ Anderson Graphics and Embroidery in Niagara Falls to distribute to the needy in Niagara County.

About 200 sweat shirts will be given to the Tuscarora Mission in Lewiston and the Salvation Army, Community Mission, Coats for Kids and Hannah House, all in Niagara Falls.

Andrea Tomala, the company's office manager, said the new sweat shirts -- valued at more than $13,000 -- turned up during an early spring cleaning, adding that they "would be more useful if given to people that needed them instead of staying in storage."

"The weight and conditioning room will be open for public use on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and space is limited, so those interested are encouraged to sign up early," said Delbert Ambrosia, the district's building and grounds director. Participants are required to submit a registration form and obtain an appointment with Ambrosia by calling 215-3221 between 6 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to get an official identification tag that must be worn while in the school.

Application forms also can be obtained by e-mailing Ambrosia at or through the district's Web site at
