New building for parks, recreation put out to bid
Plans for a new building to house the Town of Tonawanda's Youth, Parks and Recreation Department took another step forward this week, with the Town Board putting the project out to bid.
Bids are due March 17 on the estimated $1.3 million project. Beyond construction of a 5,564-square-foot building in Lincoln Park, work includes demolishing a craft building on the site, reconstructing drainage and parking, and a new entrance for vehicles accessing a maintenance facility in the park.
Town lawmakers opted to build new, rather than pay $97,000 this year to renew a lease on a Sheridan Drive office building. Officials have said the building should be completed this fall.
