The National Lacrosse League's transactions page had an interesting entry on it this week:
"Buffalo Bandits: Placed Pat McCready on the Active Roster - Evaluation Period List from the Protected Player List."
The 34-year-old transition player was battling shoulder problems at the start of the season, and no one was counting on him to contribute much in 2009. McCready was a big part of last season's championship team, as he was tied for the team lead in loose balls and had 23 points. He's been in Buffalo since 2002. We'll see how he comes along in the days ahead as he tests out his shoulder in workouts.
Roger Vyse is day-to-day with a groin strain, while Delby Powless has one game left to serve in his two-game suspension for violating team rules.
Meanwhile, Chris Driscoll of the Toronto Rock -- Saturday's opponent of the Bandits -- was named th league's transition player of the week. He had two goals and scooped 11 loose balls in Toronto's win over Edmonton.
