Margaret "Beth" Reynolds Kahle, an active community volunteer and former owner of Taylor and Reynolds Funeral Home, died Sunday in Niagara Hospice House. She was 75.
Mrs. Kahle was born in Lockport and was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy and Rochester Institute of Technology. She earned a degree in retailing at RIT and went on to work as a buyer at Williams Brothers Department Store and later at McCorney's Decorating. After raising her family, she worked as a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker Boyd Real Estate.
She served as president of the Jaycees of Lockport, was a 4-H leader of the Northern Lights Group for 10 years and was active in the Lockport Garden Club. She also was a member and past president of the St. Patrick Church Altar and Rosary Society, Ladies of Charity and Lockport Home and School Association.
Mrs. Kahle also served on the Lockport Youth Bureau board, as well as the Young Women's Christian Association board and its domestic violence program. She was a member of the Ladies of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Red Hatters of Niagara.
She was an officer ofTaylor and Reynolds Funeral Home when it reopened in 1975. In 1995, she became president and part-owner of the corporation after the death of her brother, Clarence "Bud" Reynolds. She then retired from the corporation in 2000, when her son, Mark, became the fourth-generation owner of the business, which her grandfather started in 1902.
Surviving along with her son are a daughter, Sharon Morse, and a brother, Robert Reynolds.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Friday at All Saints Catholic Church, 76 Church St., after prayers at 10:15 in Taylor and Reynolds Funeral Home, Transit and Niagara streets.
