Iroquois' Murie to play at UB
Iroquois senior running back Brandon Murie, a two-time All-Western New York first teamer and a Connolly Cup finalist, will play football at the University at Buffalo.
Iroquois coach Frank Payne e-mailed me that Murie committed to play for the Bulls after he was offered a "preferred walk-on position" by UB. Murie, also a very good student, is expected to get some academic scholarship money and some financial aid and is interested in UB's dental school.
"I think it is a perfect fit for
Brandon because of the way coach Gill runs his program," said Payne, "and I know
Brandon will work is tail off to help the Bulls in the future."
Who knows -- if Murie can put on a show at Bulls practice with the kind of long runs he's wow-ed Section VI fans the last few years, I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up on scholarship down the road.
