$62,500 bid considered to clean City Hall ducts
LOCKPORT -- For the first time, heating and cooling ducts soon may be cleaned in the 35-year-old City Hall.
City Engineer Norman D. Allen urged the Common Council last week to accept a bid for the duct cleaning, even though the lowest of three proposals was about 50 percent higher than he had anticipated. The John W. Danforth Co. of the Town of Tonawanda submitted the apparent low bid of $62,500.
The work, which will include sealing the cleaned ducts with plastic lining, will take about a month, Allen said.
City Hall to be closed Monday and Feb. 16
LOCKPORT -- City Hall will be closed Monday in observance of Abraham Lincoln's birthday, and also Feb. 16 for the federal President's Day holiday, City Clerk Richard P. Mullaney announced this week.
Neither closure will affect the garbage collection schedule; trash will be picked up both Mondays as usual.
