For any given theatrical production, one diva is usually more than enough. But for Mary Kate O'Connell, the founder and frequent performer in the long-running show "Diva By Diva," 1,000 is more like it. Hence "A Night of 1,000 Divas," a charity fundraiser and performance which celebrates the revue's 10th anniversary at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Riviera Theatre (67 Webster St., North Tonawanda).
O'Connell's "Diva By Diva," billed as a celebration of women, is a constantly evolving evening of songs, poetry, speeches and all manner of cabaret-style entertainment that has featured more than 300 women since its inception. This iteration will benefit charities like the DeGraff Hospital Auxiliary, The Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum and others -- though O'Connell is still seeking charities who want to sell blocks of tickets for the show. Regular tickets to the show are $25, or $100 for a ticket that includes entry to a reception at the Riviera at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Charities and those interested in $100 tickets should call Katherine Lucas at 692-0064. For additional information, call 692-2413 or visit rivieratheatre.org.
