The City of Olean Firefighters Local 1796 is holding a raffle to benefit the 2009 Fourth of July Fireworks Program. The drawing will be held Feb. 27 for four 200 level tickets and an arena parking pass for the Buffalo Sabres-Florida Panthers game March 12. Raffle tickets at $10 can be purchased at the Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce, the Olean Area Federal Credit Union on Wayne Street or from a City of Olean firefighter.
The Chautauqua Winter Games will be held at the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena in Jamestown on Saturday and Sunday. Opening ceremonies will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Figure skaters will compete from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday. Two hundred skaters have entered the event. Admission is free.
Abby Pelonero from Gymnastics Unlimited in Orchard Park won the all-around title at the early season state championships for Level 5 during a competition last week in Utica.
Other state champions were Kaitlyn Lipka (Level 5 floor), Lexi Snyder (Level 7 vault, 13-14 division), Julia Pupko (Level 4 floor), Anna Major (Level 4 vault) and Meghan Krawiec (Level 7 vault, 11-12 division).
