Ready or not, here come the holidays. The Keuka Lake Wine Trail begins its Yuletide festivities on the weekends of Nov. 15 and 16 and Nov. 22 and 23, when each of its nine member wineries pairs hearty winter foods with its wines.
Ticket holders are given a grapevine wreath at the first stop and a Christmas ornament at each subsequent stop. The wineries will be decorated, and the gift shops will be open. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 15 and 22 and noon to 5 p.m. Nov. 16 and 23. Tickets are $35 a person, $55 a couple. Order from www.keukawinetrail.com or Wegmans.
Participating wineries include: Keuka Spring Vineyards, Rooster Hill Vineyards, Barrington Cellars/Buzzard Crest Vineyards, Ravines Wine Cellars, McGregor Vineyard Winery, Heron Hill Winery, Dr. Konstantin Frank's Vinifera Wine Cellars, Stever Hill Vineyards and Hunt Country Vineyards.
Holiday shoppers will sample the likes of antipasto stuffed bread, chocolate-dipped ginger snaps, manicotti with organically grown herbs, beef or clam chili, homemade oat bread and Concord grape tapioca pudding.
Cave Springs Winery in Jordan, Ont., and Seabar, 475 Ellicott St., are joining forces to present a tasting dinner at 7 p.m. Nov. 19 at Seabar.
Chef Mike Andrzejewski advises that the menu will consist of Hawaiian tuna; butter-poached Maine lobster; ginger and enoki salad; sea scallops; smoked marlin and crab club sandwich; shrimp and chorizo paella risotto; and an Indian summer dessert. Appropriate Rieslings will be served throughout.
The price is $75 per person. Reserve by calling 332-2928.
