This Day in Buffalo Sports History

   Oct. 27, 1961 -- Looooooouuuuuuuu.

After a slow start in 1960 and 1961, better days were coming for the Buffalo Bills. The team announced the hiring of Lou Saban as the team's director of player personnel. He had started the season as the coach of the Boston Patriots, but was fired. Saban landed in Buffalo in an administrative job ... briefly.

By 1962, Saban was the head coach of the Bills. He started the team on the road to its first bit of glory, winning back-to-back AFL championships. And he'd have a few other jobs in his long career in sports over the next few decades.
