The School Librarians' Association of Western New York named Colleen Goodwin of Union East Elementary, president for the 2008-2009 school year. The Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute named Jennifer Piraino a research associate. She will be working in the laboratory of Dr. Vivian Cody. She received her bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences at U.B.

Cohen and Lombardo counsel Maryann Saccomando-Freedman was recently inducted to the Grover Cleveland High School Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame. Saccomando-Freedman, class of 1952, was honored for her extensive contributions to both the WNY community and the region's legal profession. She was one of 10 distinguished alumni inducted into the Grover Cleveland High School Hall of Fame. real estate salesperson Sherry M. McDonald recently achieved Seniors Real Estate Specialists designation. The SRES Council trains REALTORS to meet the special needs of maturing clients when selling, buying, relocating, or refinancing residential or investment properties.
