Behind the Scenes

The first act of the as-yet-incomplete ballet "Arthur of Wales, NY" will premiere as part of a fundraiser for Configuration Dance from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute, 845 Kenmore Ave. It's Configuration's first major new project since it became a resident Western New York company. The ballet was conceived by Configuration co-founder Joseph Cipolla, local businessman Jack Cullen and choreographer Michael Shannon. Tickets start at $50; for more info, call 474-4168.


An all-star cast headlined by Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra Music Director JoAnn Falletta will present "Catch the Beat With the Maestro" beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Transit Valley Country Club in East Amherst. The benefit for the BPO Volunteer Foundation will also include Michael Ludwig, Robert Alemany and John Landis; it will feature audience participation, a gourmet dinner, a customized gift and other prizes. Auditions for the upcoming production of "It's a Wonderful Life" will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 3 and 4 in the Ghostlight Theatre, 170 Schenck St., North Tonawanda. Twelve men, 10 women, two boys and two girls are sought. There is a special daytime performance for local schools Dec. 11 that performers must be available for. Desiderio's Dinner Theatre will hold auditions at 7 p.m. Monday in Desiderio's, 5827 Broadway, Lancaster, for its next three productions. Male and female actors are needed from ages 18 years old and up.
