Woman injured when car drives under tractor-trailer

BYRON -- A Byron woman was seriously injured Monday afternoon after her car traveled under a tractor-trailer that failed to stop at a stop sign, Genesee County sheriff's officials reported.

Jennifer L. Bobzin, 37, was headed north on Byron Road in a Ford Fusion at about 1 p.m. when an 18-wheel truck operated by Ronald L. Sprague, 51, of Pavilion, was headed east on Walkers Corners Road and didn't stop at the intersection, police said.

Bobzin's car traveled under the tanker-style trailer, striking the roof of the car underneath the trailer, then striking the rear tandem driver's side wheels when exiting the opposite side, police said.

Bobzin was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with a head injury.

Police said an inspection of the truck found "no operating deficiencies on the vehicle."
