Marion Burns, who owned Joylan Theatre in Springville with her husband, Aloysius, for many years, died Monday in Jennie B. Richmond Nursing Home, Springville. She was 100.
The couple ran the Main Street moviehouse that was opened in 1950 by her parents, Peter and Lena Bifarella, until Aloysius Burns died in 1982. The theater was then sold.
"She kind of grew up in the business. They spent many joyous years bringing wholesome movies to the village," said their daughter, Joan.
A lifelong resident of the village, Mrs. Burns also worked at Simon Bros. Clothiers for more than 50 years.
Surviving, in addition to her daughter, is Mrs. Burns' sister, Helen Kuhn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Springville.
