Town of Boston driver is charged with DWI

A Town of Boston man who refused to submit to a chemical test was charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation early Thursdau, Erie County sheriff's officials said.

John C. Brooks, 54, was stopped for a traffic violation on Boston State Road at about 2:35 a.m. A roadside investigation by Deputy Chris Butera led to the DWI charge.

Brooks was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation after deputies said he was driving with a conditional license that had been suspended.

Police say speeding driver had forged inspection

A South Buffalo motorist caught speeding on Marilla Street lost no time getting into even more trouble Wednesday afternoon when police discovered a forged inspection sticker on his car.

Daniel J. Driscoll, 24, of the 400 block of Marilla, was stopped and accused of driving his 2006 Cadillac 40 mph in a 30-mph zone. When officers further investigated, they discovered the inspection sticker was a forgery.

Driscoll was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument, no inspection and speeding. South District Officers Ellen Taylor, Joseph Lynch and Peter Nigrelli made the arrest.

Man accused of bat attack during custody argument

A Northampton Street man who allegedly attacked a woman with a baseball bat during an argument over the custody of their child was arrested on assault and criminal mischief charges Wednesday, according to Northeast District police.

Kevin Cottman, 23, of the 800 block of Northampton, struck Larisha Norman in the midsection with the bat and also broke a kitchen window during the 3:30 p.m. attack in a residence on the 200 block of Hempstead Avenue, police said.
