Thomas A. Urbanczyk, a retired Orchard Park police lieutenant, died Monday in the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Cheektowaga. He was 65.
A 1960 graduate of Lackawanna High School, he earned his bachelor's degree from Buffalo State College.
Mr. Urbanczyk served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961 to 1964, continuing his service in the Reserve until 1966.
He joined the Orchard Park Police Department in 1966 and was appointed lieutenant in 1972. He retired in 1993.
Mr. Urbanczyk was a past president of the Orchard Park Rotary Club, which honored him with the Paul Harris Fellow Award for services rendered to the community.
He was a member of Orchard Park Post 567, American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, the former Frances A. DiTondo; two sons, Tom and Ken; a daughter, Wendy Siwy; and three sisters, Emily, Florence Opiel and Camille Close.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 3148 Abbott Road, Orchard Park.
