Woman charged with DWI after Newstead collision
A Town of Corfu woman was charged with driving while intoxicated after her vehicle collided with another vehicle moments after leaving a Newstead bar Sunday night, the Erie County Sheriff's Office said.
Laurie A. Pearce, 37, was leaving The Dog House, 11986 Main Road, just before 9 p.m. when she pulled out of the parking lot to head east and into the path of a westbound vehicle.
The westbound vehicle was driven by Valerie C. Booth, of Clarence.
Both victims were taken for treatment to Erie County Medical Center. Both vehicles were extensively damaged, the Sheriff's Office said.
Pearce was arrested at the hospital on a DWI charge but refused to submit to a blood test and was released on traffic summonses.
Booth, who police said was driving on a suspended license, also was charged after the crash.
Deputies Emily Nelson and Brandon Stott responded to the incident, as well as Village of Akron police.
