The Niagara Frontier Orchid Society and the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens will hold their annual orchid show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Gardens, 2655 South Park Ave. The show will feature orchid displays, judged competitions, orchid-growing demonstrations, an orchid photo display and orchid plant vendors. The Western New York Iris Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Clarence Public Library, 3 Town Place, Clarence. Following the business meeting, Maria Gerbracht -- an American Iris Society accredited judge, iris grower and hybridizer -- will present "Iris Plus." For information, call 836-2573.

East Aurora Garden Club will meet at noon Monday at St. Matthias Episcopal Church, 374 Main St., East Aurora. Sarah Hill, of Miller Gardens in Elma, will present "Extending the Color in Your Fall Garden."

Kenmore Garden Club will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Kenmore United Methodist Church, 32 Landers Road, Kenmore. Mary Rossi will present a program on rain gardens; Gary Carrel will discuss ways to reuse various materials to enrich your garden. Both are from the Erie County Department of Environment and Planning.

The Evans Garden Club and Eden Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Angola Public Library. Susan Charles will present "Growing Glorious Orchids."

Ken-Sheriton Garden Club will host a small standard flower show, "Autumn in New York," at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 576 Delaware Road, Kenmore.

The Western New York Rose Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen's Bethlehem United Church of Christ, 750 Wehrle Drive, Amherst (near Union Road). The topic is preparing roses for winter. The public is invited to this free session. For information, call Dave Swanka at 833-5549.

Federated Holland Garden Club will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Beaver Meadow Nature Center, Welch Road, North Java. Bill Hudson, naturalist and nature center director, will present a program on mushrooms. Hiking available; potluck luncheon. New members welcome.

Forest Stream Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at Forest Elementary School, 250 North Forest Road, Williamsville. Jo Ellen Budnick will demonstrate designs from the Ohara School of Ikebana. Guests welcome.

District 8 FGCNYS Inc. Judges Council will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Brighton Community Church, 1225 Brighton Road, Town of Tonawanda. Members will discuss highlights of the fall conference and the new slate of officers. Horticulture specimens of vegetables, perennials, gourds, terrariums and dish gardens will be judged. Illuminary designs will be critiqued.

Cinderella Isle Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at A Snail's Place gift shop and florist, 6550 Seneca St., Elma. Owner Carole Melnick will demonstrate quick and easy ideas for table-settings, decorations, gifts and party ideas for the holidays. Business meeting to follow. New members welcome. Grassroots Gardens of Buffalo will hold its second annual fundraiser, the Harvest Celebration, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum, 453 Porter Ave. Admission is $30 for nonmembers; $25 for members. Visit www.grassrootsgardens.org.
