Fender bender leads to fight, two arrests
A minor traffic accident downtown early Saturday led to two people being arrested on assault charges after they attacked the two occupants of a car they backed into on Washington Street, police said.
Dwane B. Lewis, 21, of Hempstead Avenue, and Darren Brant, 21, of Hagen Street, were each charged with felony assault following the run-in at 3:30 a.m. Saturday, police said.
Police said a car containing the two men backed into another car, and attempted to leave. When two people in the car that was hit attempted to stop the other car, they were beaten by the two suspects and four other men, police said.
A Buffalo woman said she was punched in the nose and throat, and her male companion from Kenmore was also punched in the face and the back of his head.
Cabbie robbed of $175 by fare with a gun
A Buffalo cab driver told police he was robbed of $175 at gunpoint early Saturday morning after he picked up a fare in Allentown.
The cabbie said he picked up three teens at Main and Allen streets at 1:15 a.m., stopped at a store at Genesee Street and Fillmore Avenue for one of the passengers, and then drove them to Heminway Street and Countess Avenue.
He said one of the passengers put a gun to the back of his head, robbed him of his cash and a cell phone.
