Anchored mower stolen from mall

WHEATFIELD -- A riding lawnmower valued at more than $3,000 was stolen from the Sears store in The Summit mall on Friday, sheriff's deputies said.

The mower was anchored by cable to other mowers outside the Williams Road store's lawn and garden department. Someone unbolted the cable between 6 and 8:45 p.m., deputies said.

Home on 75th Street targeted in gun theft

NIAGARA FALLS Six guns, including a Russian SKS and a Chinese Mack 90, were stolen from a 75th Street home between Wednesday and Friday, police said.
Also among the stolen weapons were three shotguns and a Remington rifle. The loss was estimated at nearly $1,300.

Stolen car recovered, but with major damage

NIAGARA FALLS -- A car stolen from North Tonawanda earlier this week was found abandoned and heavily damaged outside a Main Street business Friday.

Police said the 2006 Chrysler was found shortly after 5 p.m. in a lot in the 900 block of Main Street. The car had three flat tires and a broken front axle, police added.

Drugs called motive in home invasion

NIAGARA FALLS -- Three masked men invaded a Jordan Gardens apartment Friday night, assaulting one of the occupants as they searched for drugs, police said.

The men burst into the home through a rear door just before 10 p.m. and demanded drugs.

One man who suffered a cut to his back was treated in a local hospital. Police said the injury was not serious.
