Canisius College named Laura J. Hechtel director of the Dr. George E. Schreiner '43 Pre-Medical Center. Hechtel, who previously served as an adjunct professor at the college, will continue to teach classes in biology, anatomy, physiology, ecology and biostatistics. She holds a PhD and master's degrees in biology from Illinois State University and a bachelor's in biology from Augustana College.

The Bonadio Group, an accounting, consulting, and financial services firm, named Stephen C. Turner and Joseph T. Wutz assistant accountants with its Buffalo office.

Lumsden and McCormick, Buffalo certified public accountants and advisers, named Sandra Fantauzzo files administrator. Fantauzzo was formerly with Kenmore Family Medicine.

The Grand Island Fire Company welcomed Laura Waz as the newest member of its team of ALS providers, also known as paramedics or medics.

First Niagara Bank appointed J. Lanier Little executive vice president consumer banking.

Tops Friendly Markets appointed Gerald McGettigan director of accounts payable. Most recently, McGettigan was the director of merchandising accounting at Pathmark Stores in Carteret, N.J. He earned a master of business administration degree in accounting along with a bachelor's in management information systems from Seton Hall University.

Oh My Dog! Daycare and Grooming Spa partner's Hillary Shaw and LeAnne Powers recently opened Oh My Dog! Village Grooming Spa in the Village of Williamsville. This boutique, luxury doggy spa will offer humanlike spa services for all breeds as well as 24 hour online reservations service to accommodate customers. The Oh My Dog Daycare and Grooming Spa opened in January 2008 and is adjacent to the Wurlitzer Complex in North Tonawanda. The facility consists of 5,000 square feet featuring four separate play areas, and incorporates the use of Web Cam so owners can check on their dogs throughout the day.



Sorrento Lactalis Commercial, donated $50,000 to Gilda's Club Western New York for the second consecutive year as exclusive sponsor of the organization's annual Beyond the Red Door Fundraising Breakfast. Sorrento donated $25,000 for the event and made a $25,000 lead gift to encourage others to support this worthwhile cause. This year's breakfast will be held on Thursday, October 23 at Park Country Club in Williamsville.
