The CFA Society of Buffalo named Thomas J. Hanlon of Courier Capital, president of its board of directors for 2008-09. Other officers: Vice president, John Gullo, Sanderson and Co.; treasurer, David M. Drebot, National Fuel Gas; secretary, Gregory Rau, Bank of America; education chair, Richard A. All, Canisius College; membership chair, Steven Gattuso, public awareness chair, Lawrence V. Whistler IV, Nottingham Advisors and program committee, John Gullo, Sanderson and Co. The CFA Society of Buffalo is the local chapter of the CFA Institute, a global membership organization that awards the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Eric Mower and Associates, a marketing communications agency, named Rob Neiler partner in charge of in-store marketing for the agency's seven east coast offices and Richard Skiermont partner creative director. Neiler received a bachelor's of arts degree in advertising design from Buffalo State College. Skiermont will now oversee Buffalo's creative department, providing leadership to account planning and creative teams. He brings 25 years of industry experience.

Gross Shuman Brizdle and Gilfillan attorneys David H. Alexander, Howard B. Cohen, Robert J. Feldman, Peter S. Gilfillan, Leslie Mark Greenbaum and Jeffrey A. Human were named by Upstate New York SuperLawyers magazine as among the top attorneys in Upstate New York for 2008. The selections are made by Law and Politics, a division of Key Professional Media of Minneapolis annually.

Independent Health, an Amherst-headquartered health plan provider, named Shaun Charley director of facilities. Previously, Charley was vice president, network marketing design and development for HSBC Bank. She holds bachelor's degrees in graphic, environmental and interior design from Buffalo State College.

The Buffalo law office of Hiscock and Barclay named Jennifer Nichols Castaldo an associate. Castaldo is a 2008 graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Law and has a bachelor's in political science from from UB.

Dunkin' Donuts has opened at 727 Maple Road in Amherst. The new location is part of the renovation of Schmitt's Robo Mart and Sunoco station.

Hardee Bros. Professional Dry Cleaners has relocated to its new production facility at 8584 Main St. in Clarence. Cleaning, pressing and spotting procedures will be done on premise.

Cenergy, an East Aurora advertising and sales promotion agency, was selected by the NHL Pittsburgh Penguins as the team's advertising agency of record, previously handled in-house.

Five Star Bank recently celebrated the opening of its Henrietta branch, located at 765 Calkins Road, the first of two new Rochester area branches. The second location is currently under construction in Greece. The branch will host a Grand Opening October 16.

Heimiller Greenhouses in Newfane was awarded $75,000 in Value-Added Producer Grants by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development agency. The funds will help pay marketing expenses at its newly established retail outlet.



The Keeping Kids Warm Program of Charming Shoppes will donate new winter coats to the children at P.S. 17 in Buffalo on October 8. At the end of this season, the program will have donated nearly 115,000 coats in 74 communities nationally in the 13 years this program has been established. Charming Shoppes is a national specialty apparel retailer that includes Lane Bryant, Fashion Bug and Catherines Plus Sizes.
