After further review, it is too close to call whether the Buffalo Bills game with the New York Giants on Dec. 23 will be flexed from Sunday afternoon to NBC's Sunday Night Football.
The Bills (7-6) Giants (9-4) did their part Sunday afternoon. Both won and each currently has a winning record.
However, there is a 50-50 chance that the NFL, which makes the flex decision after getting input from NBC, will decide to go with the Dec. 23 game between the Minnesota Vikings and Washington Redskins.
The Vikings, who are 7-6, are a hot team that features rookie sensation Adrian Peterson and haven't had a Sunday night game. The Redskins' win Thursday night over the Chicago Bears raised their record to 6-7. They remain in playoff contention going into next Sunday night's NBC game with the Giants.
The New York market could play a role in the decision, but Washington also is a strong NFL market. The Giants also could clinch their playoff seeding with a win over Washington on Sunday and make the Dec. 23 game with the Bills less important.
The NFL is expected to announce its decision either Monday or Tuesday.
