Concurrent terms set in two burglaries

A Portville man who committed two burglaries was sentenced to state prison during action in Cattaraugus County Court on Monday.

Christopher C. Lawton, 22, now in the county jail, was sentenced by Judge Larry M. Himelein to serve two concurrent terms of one to three years in prison for his conviction of third-degree burglary at a building used for housing in July in Portville.

District Attorney Edward M. Sharkey said Lawton's sentence also covers his guilty plea to third-degree attempted burglary at a seasonal camp March 26, also in Portville.

Sharon K. Onuffer, 43, of Great Valley, was sentenced to five years' probation, including 100 hours of community service, and restitution of $3,768 for her conviction of fourth-degree grand larceny between October 2006 and July in Olean, when she provided false statements to receive unemployment benefits.

Rhonda Reardon, 38, of Machias, was sentenced to three years' probation and fined $1,000 for her conviction of driving while intoxicated Oct. 31, 2006, in the Town of Machias, when she was driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.21 percent, nearly three times the legal limit.

Anthony R. Calverley, 38, of Sardinia, was sentenced to serve two concurrent terms of three years' probation and fined of $1,000 for his conviction of DWI on Oct. 20, 2006, in the Town of Yorkshire.

Sharkey said that in other cases, several pleaded guilty and will be sentenced in January.

* Christopher J. Raffele, 36, of Salamanca, now in the county jail, pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary and second-degree attempted assault of a neighbor's house Sept. 12 in Salamanca, when he attempted to injure a person inside.

* Keenan J. Wagner, 21, of Olean, now in the county jail, pleaded guilty to first-degree attempted robbery and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon June 21 in the City of Olean, when be displayed a pistol in Vic Vena Pharmacy.

Wagner also pleaded guilty to first-degree attempting to promote prison contraband June 22 at the county jail when he possessed 79 oxycodone tablets.

* Lennard C. Everitt, 46, of Olean, pleaded guilty to third-degree burglary of a building Aug. 7 in the City of Olean.
