>Veterans marker, found recently, to be installed
LOCKPORT -- A recently rediscovered veterans marker will be rededicated and installed outside the second-floor courtrooms in the Niagara County Courthouse during a ceremony at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Wendy J. Roberson, first deputy county clerk, said the bronze tablet topped with an eagle was originally erected in 1922 by the Niagara County Bar Association to salute members of the legal profession who served during World War I.
Some years later, it was removed during renovations and forgotten. John Duxberry, a county public works employee, found it a couple of months ago, and another public works employee, Fred Alexander, was in charge of cleaning it.
