Mark E. Gentry of Eggertsville, plant engineer for the University at Buffalo Research Institute on Addictions on Main Street, died Tuesday in Sisters Hospital after a battle with cancer. He was 54.
Born in Albany, Mr. Gentry moved to the Buffalo area with his family as a child. After graduating from Sweet Home High School in 1971, he became a maintenance worker at the UB Research Institute and worked there for 35 years, advancing to the head of maintenance operations.
He coached Little League baseball and loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
He also enjoyed reading Westerns.
Surviving are his wife of 28 years, the former Karen Koch; two sons, Kiel and Gregory; four daughters, Kate, Emily, Amie and Carrie; a brother, Dan; and two sisters, Judie Gentry-Smith and Beth Staebell.
A memorial Mass will be offered at 9 a.m. Saturday in SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 5480 Main St., Williamsville.
