Everybody has an opinion about local news. You know the drill. There's too much crime, too many scare stories, too much controversy, not enough substance about stories that impact the community.
After watching a full week of 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts, I drew my own conclusions about which station was the most innovative, which was the most grating, which was the most stodgy and which was the most responsible.
The first part of a four-part series analyzing local TV news begins today with a report on Channel 2 News, the station that claims it is "On Your Side" and is standing up for you. Reports on News 4 Buffalo and 7 News follow next Tuesday and Thursday, with the concluding piece running Sunday, Nov. 10.
We'd like for readers to respond to the analysis and give their opinion of the state of local TV news. In a way, your responses will be similar to one of those unscientific polls the stations used to run about daily news happenings.
