>GOP candidate vies for Democratic line, too

JAMESTOWN -- Former City Clerk Shirley Sanfilippo will face off against Mayor Sam Teresi in a Democratic mayoral primary Sept. 18.

Sanfilippo, who already has secured the Republican line, received more than the 400 signatures needed to force the runoff.

Teresi had to win a primary in his first mayoral run in 1999, defeating former Councilman Tony Raffa before defeating incumbent Republican Dick Kimball for Jamestown's top elected post.

In addition to the Democratic line, Teresi has the Working Families line. Both the Independence and Conservative parties decided not to endorse a candidate for mayor.
