Frawley named to board of state mayors group

Howard "Hub" Frawley, the mayor of the Village of Angola, was recently appointed to the 16-member executive committee of the State Conference of Mayors and Municipal Officials, the organization announced.

Frawley, a lifelong Angola resident and local business owner for 30 years, has served as mayor since 2005. Before that, he was a village trustee for eight years.

Frawley joins the organization that is responsible for establishing the overall policy for the Conference of Mayors, which represents 580 cities and villages in the state.

Culvert work to close Route 78 in Java

JAVA -- There's a detour ahead for Wyoming County motorists who use Route 78 in the Town of Java. Beginning next Monday, the road will be closed for about two weeks while crews replace a culvert, the state Department of Transportation reports.

Vehicles, except for local traffic, will be rerouted onto Route 98 to Route 20A to Route 77, officials say. Drivers are advised to use caution in the work zone and on the detour. For daily traffic reports, visit www.travelinfony.com.
