Mike and Sherry Andrzejewski have announced the opening of Sea Bar at 5235 Main St., Williamsville, on the site of the late Caffe Aroma. (Trattoria Aroma is still open next door.)
The sleekly furnished Sea Bar will feature a menu of contemporary sushi -- like Caramel Miso Crab Rolls or Panko-Coated Avocado Cups holding sashimi salad. Table service is available as well as seats at the long sushi bar.
Hours for now are from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. No reservations are accepted, but take-out is available. The telephone number is 204-5283.
Kevin O'Connell Jr. of the Hourglass Restaurant, 981 Kenmore Ave., is throwing a Beach Party next Friday that is, he says, "all about Jimmy Buffett."
It's all about shrimps, scallops, oysters and "Cheeseburgers in Paradise," too, of course. Those will be the stars of an all-you-can-eat buffet. Tickets are $50 per person. Call 877-8788.
And while you are in the party mood, you might want to note another event the Hourglass is involved in. The "Barbecue Challenge" to be carried out with another Kenmore Avenue restaurant -- Torches.
The competition will be held at high noon (when else?) on Aug. 12 in the Torches Parking Lot at 1141 Kenmore Ave. Food, drink and live music for $30 per person. Call the Hourglass number to reserve.
