Holly Jean Ayers, active in Roswell Park fundraising

Holly Jean Ayers, who was an active in fundraising efforts for Roswell Park Cancer Institute, died Sunday in the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Cheektowaga, after a 14-year struggle with cancer. She was 46.

Mrs. Ayers was born in Buffalo and graduated from Lancaster High School.

In support of Roswell Park, she organized events such as "Mothers Night Out" to raise money for breast cancer research. She also served as a trained "chemo coach" for more than 10 years.

A homemaker, she was involved with the West Seneca Parent-Teacher Association, the Girl Scouts, West Seneca Girls Softball and the 10 Lives Club, a cat shelter.

She was an avid gardener.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas; two daughters, Alexa and Ashley; her mother, Joan Guido; and two sisters, Karen Orr and Shari Ellis.

A memorial service will be at noon Saturday in Amigone Funeral Home, 8440 Main St., Clarence.
