>Popowich and Freeman re-elected to lead board
By a 5-4 vote, Ramona Popowich was re-elected Tuesday as president of the Williamsville School Board.
Popowich had the support of William Freeman, who was re-elected vice president, and Michael Littman, Francina Spoth and Dawn Cerra.
Camille Eichhorn, Ronald Shubert, Stephen Munschauer and Carrie Kahn voted against her.
Shubert abstained from the vote to re-elect Freeman; Eichhorn, Munschauer and Kahn voted against Freeman.
Spoth was elected board parliamentarian.
Also Tuesday, the board appointed Petrina Neureuter interim principal of Williamsville North High School, succeeding Robert Tubbs, who resigned last month. Neureuter has been assistant principal at North since 2001. A search is under way to find a permanent replacement for Tubbs.
