>3-year term set for injuring woman with frozen beer can

LOCKPORT -- Kevin B. Price, who threw a frozen beer can at a woman, striking her in the eye and doing permanent damage to her vision, was sentenced to three years in state prison Tuesday by Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Sperrazza.

Price, 36, of Lockwood Lane, had pleaded guilty to second-degree assault in the wake of the June 28, 2006, incident.

Sperrazza told Price he had "an alcohol problem and an anger problem," noting that police had been to his home for domestic violence complaints seven times in 2 1/2 years leading up to the assault, which Price asserted was in response to having a vase thrown at him. The victim was in court to deny that.

Price asserted the past police calls were for loud music complaints, which Sperrazza disproved by reading aloud from the police reports. He also argued of the can throwing incident, "It was an accident. It slipped out of my hand."

Sperrazza didn't buy that, either.
