Thomas E. McNamara Sr., founder of T.E. McNamara Trucking, died Monday in the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Cheektowaga. He was 81.
A Buffalo native, Mr. McNamara and his late wife, Shirley, founded the trucking business in 1949. The business moved to its current location on Transit Road in Elma in 1964. The company worked on several large local projects, including the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority's Metro Rail and the Somerset power plant.
Mr. McNamara served in the U.S. Army Infantry in Germany and Japan during World War II.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas Jr., Kevin and Daniel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Czestochowa Catholic Church, 2158 Clinton St., Cheektowaga.
