A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister Evelyn Bork, a longtime educator with the Sisters of St. Joseph, will be offered at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the chapel of the Sisters of St. Joseph Clarence Residence, 4975 Strickler Road.
Sister Evelyn died Thursday after an illness of several years. She was 74.
Born in Buffalo, Sister Evelyn earned a bachelor of science degree in education from Mount St. Joseph Teachers College and was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy. She officially entered the order on July 2, 1952.
From 1953 to 1968, she taught in several schools in the Diocese of Buffalo, including St. Matthew's in Buffalo, Sacred Heart in Niagara Falls and St. Mary's and Sacred Heart in Dunkirk.
Sister Evelyn served as secretary-treasurer of the Catholic Academy of West Buffalo from 1969 to 1988 and was food service director of the school from 1989 to 2002, when she retired.
Known for cheerfulness and generosity, Sister Evelyn was considered an excellent bookkeeper and secretary, and as a teacher, never found fault with her pupils.
Survivors include a sister, Diane M. Cioslak.
