Emil E. Von Dungen, president and CEO of Reimann & Georger Corp., manufacturer of construction equipment and boat hoists, died Thursday in his East Amherst home. He was 62.
Mr. Von Dungen was born in Buffalo and graduated from Kensington High School and attended the University of Buffalo, where he majored in engineering.
Before he could finish college, he was drafted into the Army and served in an intelligence unit during the Vietnam War.
Upon the death of his father, Mr. Von Dungen received an early discharge and returned to Buffalo to run his father's business -- the Emil Von Dungen Corp., a steel fabricator.
Over the years, he purchased other companies and consolidated them under the Reimann & Georger umbrella. Reimann & Georger specialized in boat lifts, ladder hoists and construction supplies.
He was also active in the community, as a member of Lockport Lodge 73, F&AM, the Brookfield Country Club and the HSBC Bank Regional Board.
"His main thing was he was a family man," said his wife, the former Joanne Krajewski.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Eric and Jeff.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Zion Lutheran Church, 9535 Clarence Center Road, Clarence.
