A former Tony Roma's Famous for Ribs restaurant in Amherst that closed last year is being marketed for sale for $1.5 million.
The restaurant, on Ridge Lea Road, had been operated by Executive Food Group, a Niagara County-based franchisee. The location opened in a new building in 2005 and closed in March 2006.
GE Capital Franchise Finance Corp. recently completed taking back the property following foreclosure. Flaum Management is marketing the building for sale or lease.
Michael Palumbo, chief operating officer of Flaum Management, said the site is well-suited for another restaurant. But he said that because of the 9,000-square-foot building's open interior layout, it has also drawn interest for possible use as a medical facility.
The property is in a high visibility spot, near Boulevard Consumer Square and Niagara Falls Boulevard, he said.
Executive Food Group also closed a Tony Roma's in Rochester. The chain has no other locations in New York State.
At the time of the closings, an official with Dallas-based Romacorp said he hoped the company would be able to re-enter the market via a different franchisee.
Tony Roma's is unrelated to the Tony Rome's chain, which has restaurants locally.
