>Board restores position in music department
The mood was harmonious at the Eden School Board on Tuesday night as the board restored a position in the district's music department that was cut in the 2007-08 budget.
After hearing recommendations from the district's recently appointed music committee, the board voted to restore half a position to the junior-senior high school music department, as well as adding a fraction of a position to the elementary music program.
The board's action, which was met with applause by many in the audience, followed a presentation by the music committee that included its recommendations for the district's music program. The committee was formed in response to concerns raised by parents about the cut to the music program earlier this year.
In other business, the board accepted the resignation of board member Mark Henry, who has served on the board for eight years, and appointed John Armbrust to fill out his term, which expires in 2008.
