Hot dogs and baseball are a traditional combination. How about real dogs?

Canines of all kinds will be welcome for Dog Day at the Park before the Buffalo Bisons game against the Norfolk Tides on Sunday at 1:05 p.m.

There will be fun for pets and humans, including a pregame dog parade and various in-game contests for the dogs. Also, children will get to meet one of the most famous pups in the world as Scooby Doo will make a guest appearance.

All dogs will be provided shade and water on the berm beyond right-center field.

Kyle Cerminara, the former All-America wrestler from the University at Buffalo, will return to Western New York this weekend to give a free clinic at Medinah Middle School. The clinic will run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Cerminara will be joined by 1996 Olympic gold medalist Kendall Cross. Cerminara and Cross are residents of the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Cerminara, a Lewiston-Porter graduate, ranks first in career wins (137) at UB. He became the Bulls' first Division I All-American in 2004.

Joan Printup Hummel of Orchard Park won five gold medals in the Empire State Senior Games on June 8 in Cortland.

Hummel won the 50-, 100- and 200-meter freestyle, the 50 butterfly and the 100 medley.

Hummel, a retired teacher, will compete at the national Senior Olympics in Louisville, Ky., in early July and plans to compete at the international Senior Olympics in Utah in October.

BASKETBALL: The NICYO/Family Crystal Peoples summer basketball program is registering teams for ages 6-9, 10-13 and 14-17 divisions. Games will begin July 9. Call Derek Summers at 597-3098.
