>Woman flees attacker despite intoxication

NIAGARA FALLS -- A Grand Island woman was able to escape a would-be rapist early Sunday despite being intoxicated, police said.

The 37-year-old victim told police she was walking at Fourth and Niagara streets just after 1 a.m. when a man grabbed her from behind and pulled her into an alley behind a convenience store.

The assailant punched the woman in the face, pulled her hair and was attempting to force her to perform oral sex when she managed to escape, police said.
