A Mass of Christian Burial for Edna Pautler, a retired nursing supervisor at Buffalo Veterans Affairs Medical Center, will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 5480 Main St., Williamsville.

Miss Pautler died Saturday in Beechwood Nursing Home, Getzville, after a lengthy illness. She was 91.

Born in Clarence, she was a graduate of Mount St. Mary's School of Nursing in 1941 and later earned a degree in nursing from the University of Rochester. During World War II, she served in the Army Nurse Corps in Africa, Italy and France.

A longtime resident of the Eggertsville-Williamsville area, Miss Pautler was a lifelong member of the Altar and Rosary Society and St. Ann's Society at SS. Peter & Paul Church.

She also was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

As an active volunteer, she dedicated her time to the Buffalo Philharmonic, Studio Arena Theatre and Oakwood Nursing Home.

"She was pretty remarkable woman," said her niece, Anne Koerner. "She just loved to give back."

Her hobbies included cross-country skiing, playing bridge, swimming and bicycling with other Amherst YMCA members.
