Grammy winner Rebecca St. James is the face of contemporary Christian pop music, which is an awful lot like contemporary secular pop music, minus the pro-abstinence-before-marriage stance and the solidly devout nature of the lyrics.
Like so many of the younger pop-gospel artists one can find each year at the Kingdom Bound festival, St. James has made Christian fare hip for believers who don't want their music to be considered hopelessly square. In the process, she has become an inspiration to a host of budding Christian singers and songwriters who've taken a cue from the decade-plus career of the Australian-born singer.
St. James plays the Artpark Mainstage Theater, 450 S. Fourth St., Lewiston, at 7 tonight. Tickets are $10 to $40 and can be found at the Artpark box office or through Tickets.com.
