>Bishop names secretary for Catholic education
A new secretary for Catholic education has been appointed as part of a reorganization of the Diocese of Buffalo's education department, Bishop Edward U. Kmiec announced Monday.
Kmiec named Amherst resident Carol A. Kostyniak to lead the department. She succeeds Denise McKenzie, who held the post since it was created in 2003. McKenzie will become diocesan director of religious education, the job she held prior to being named secretary of education.
Mary Beth Coates, current director of religious education, will take a new post as director of lifelong formation, in keeping with a diocesan strategic plan to focus more attention on adult education and other programs for faith development.
Kostyniak has been serving as director of the Catholic school development program since last August.
