There's nothing like catching a band live in concert, but Fabchannel ( offers the next best thing -- high-quality videos of live musical performances you can enjoy on your computer. Recorded at the Paradiso and Melkweg clubs in Amsterdam, Fabchannel's videos include a broad selection of musical genres including ska, hip-hop, punk and electronica. Be aware, however, that most of the bands on the site are signed to independent labels -- don't expect to find any top-40 hits here. You can, however, find performances from Ani DiFranco, Cold War Kids and The Arcade Fire. Those hunting for new music might enjoy what they find.

The concert footage is professionally shot and edited and you have the option of watching it full-screen, similar to YouTube. Fabchannel allows you to create up to four personalized video playlists from tracks in the site's archive. The playlists can even be embedded in your blog or MySpace page to share with friends. And it's free!

TINte Cosmetics has a gloss that chocoholics simply must get on their lips: Haute Chocolate. Its deep bronze color is the perfect color for summer and tastes of sweet chocolate and vanilla.

TINte's line of Flavored Lip Shine glosses ($17 each) -- which come in nine other colors and flavors -- all have shimmer and shine and are enriched with shea butter to help moisturize.

The idea behind TINte, whose name is a play on the tin packaging used in their collection, is one of vintage, or classic, beauty. Their colors are subtle and their flavors -- from peaches and pink lemonade to cake and root beer float -- true. Buy online at or find locations at

When a book titled "Wreck this Journal" by Keri Smith ($12.95, Perigee) was dropped on our desk, we had no idea what we were in for.

We flipped through it at random. Back, forward, back again, back further. No matter where you start or where you end, there's always something interesting to do. Much like those Internet quizzes that get passed around, the urgings that show up on each page are hard to resist. There's "collect fruit stickers here" or "draw lines while in motion, on the bus, on the train, while walking") or "rub here with dirt." The book is an exploration into creativity. The instructions encourage you to think outside the box and literally color outside the lines. Find the book on store shelves starting June 5.

"I can be squeamish, so I'll certainly have to act in this. Hopefully I'll just be sticking thermometers in people's mouths and feeling their glands."

-- Taye Diggs, on playing a doctor in the possible "Grey's Anatomy" spinoff, in People magazine.
