>Driver charged in crash fatal to Alma man
ALMA -- An Alma man died early Sunday when a pickup truck flipped over while being driven through a farm field near Murphy & Mulvey and Hart roads, state police in Belvidere report.
Charles R. Davis Jr., 20, of County Route 18 was pronounced dead at the scene of the 5 a.m. accident by Allegany County Coroner Ted Crowell of Wellsville, troopers said.
They charged the driver, William S. Smith II, 21, also of Alma, with second-degree manslaughter and driving while intoxicated. He was held in lieu of $5,000 bail after arraignment Sunday night in Angelica Village Court.
Two other passengers in the vehicle refused medical treatment. Smith ran from the scene and was the object of a manhunt, but later turned himself in, troopers said.

NORTH HARMONY -- A Pennsylvania woman suffered minor injuries about 3:45 p.m. Sunday when a mechanical problem caused her westbound vehicle to veer off Interstate 86 into the median, where it overturned, Chautauqua County sheriff's deputies reported.
Kimberly Woods, 27, of McKean, Pa., was taken to WCA Hospital, Jamestown, for treatment, according to deputies, who said she was not charged.
