>Mobile home fire kills dog, 3 cats

NEWFANE -- A mobile home fire Sunday evening on Brown Road in the Town of Newfane killed a dog and three cats, Niagara County Sheriff's deputies said.

No one was home at the time of the blaze, but a resident of the house, Melissa Collins, 52, experienced shortness of breath when she arrived at the scene. She was taken by ambulance to Intercommunity Mmeorial Hospital.

The fire, which caused $30,000 to $50,000 in damage, may have been started by an electrical problem, but it was still under investigation, deputies said.

Firefighters from Miller Hose Co. found the house at 3031 Brown Road fully engulfed in flames at about 7 p.m.
