>Pacts aim to reclaim Medicaid fraud loss

MAYVILLE -- Chautauqua County this week took the next step in prosecuting Medicaid fraud cases.

County Executive Greg Edwards on Monday signed contracts with William L. DeProspo, an attorney with DeProspo, Petrizzo & Longo. The firm will assist the county with a number of things, including Medicaid auditing, investigation and possible litigation.

Edwards said a percentage of money recovered in the fraud cases would be returned to the county.

>May 15 vote scheduled on $13.3 million budget

FREWSBURG -- School district residents will vote next month on a $13.3 million budget that would increase the tax levy by less than 3 percent.

The School Board recently approved the spending plan for voters to decide on May 15.

School Superintendent Steve Vanstrom said the budget increases spending by 5.4 percent. The tax rate per $1,000 of assessed value might go up by less than 1 percent, once assessments and equalization rates are known.

Voters also will consider a proposition to buy three 66-seat buses.
