Charles I. Unger, retired Buffalo Forge comptroller
June 20, 1942 -- April 22, 2007

Charles I. Unger of West Seneca, a retired comptroller for Buffalo Forge, died Sunday in Mercy Hospital. He was 64.

Born in Buffalo, Mr. Unger was a graduate of Canisius High School and Canisius College. He worked at Buffalo Forge for 19 years, retiring in the 1990s. He was a past president of the National Association of Accountants.

Mr. Unger was a member and past president of the West Seneca Republican Club and an active volunteer for Boy Scouts of America. He also was an active parishioner at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and a member of the West Seneca Civic & Patriotic Commission.

His wife, Elizabeth Hylant Unger, died last July.

Survivors include four daughters, Lisa Schieber, Lynne Moore, Carrie Pettys and Lori Dufresne; three sons, Chuck, Jim and Jason; and a sister, Laura Catania.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. today in Queen of Heaven Church, Seneca Street and Mill Road, West Seneca.
