Fire in fitness center quickly controlled
JAMESTOWN -- Quick response by Jamestown firefighters Sunday afternoon prevented serious damage at a fitness center in Southside Plaza.
Crews were called to Jamestown Health and Fitness Center in the southern end of the plaza at about 1:15 p.m., Battalion Chief Vince Ognibene said. He said firefighters found heavy smoke coming from roof vents in the building when they arrived.
Ognibene said a crew from Station One at City Hall was first on the scene and quickly got the fire under control.
