The Buffalo Police Athletic League is sponsoring a PAL Charity Golf Clinic on May 8 from 5-8 p.m. at the Wehrle Golf Dome, 8230 Wehrle Drive, Williamsville. The cost is $15 per person. The clinic includes umlimited balls on the indoor and outdoor ranges, instruction and tips from area professionals, miniature golf, an auction and raffle and light hors d'oeuvres. Call 851-4615.


The Niagara Falls Powercat Wrestling Club competed in the Ohio Tournament of Champions in Columbus, Ohio. Jake Koshinski captured five of six matches to win the 190-pound elite division. Koshinski defeated wrestlers from Missouri, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Angelo Malvestuto was second in the Cadet at 171 pounds. Jihad Ali took fourth in the 118-pound elite division, Tyler Daniels was sixth in the 145-pound cadet class and Zech Lange took seventh in the 139-pound elite division.


The Buffalo Bills Monday Quarterback Club is sponsoring a preseason event on May 1. A reception from 6-7:30 p.m. will include alumni and special guest speakers in the Paul Maguire Club in Ralph Wilson Stadium. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. in the M&T Club. Gymnast Danielle Hover of Hamburg was fourth and Danielle Kirchhof of Galaxy placed seventh at the Level 10 USAG Regionals in Shrewsburg, Ma. The girls advance to the Nationals in Masion, Ohio. In the Level 9 competition, Nicole Radon of Hamburg was third and Elisa Konikoff of Hamburg was sixth. Both move on to the Eastern Nationals in Kissimmee, Fla.


BASEBALL: PAL/Buffalo News Baseball League is looking for teams in four divisions: 8-10 ($150), 12-under ($175), 15-under ($175) and 17-under ($175). Age cutoff is July 1. BASKETBALL: The Empire State Games girls scholastic tryouts are April 28 and May 12 at Williamsville East and May 19 at Honeoye Falls-Lima High School. BENEFIT: The Food Bank of WNY will hold its annual Motorcycle Run and Benefit Party on Saturday. Check-in will be at noon at Spider Grove, 1822 Davis Road (Route 240) at Behm Road, West Falls. BOATING: A three-week class designed to teach boaters how to read and use a nautical chart starts May 31 at Elks Lodge 860, Main and Sweeney streets, North Tonawanda. Instruction will be provided as a public service by members of Swiftwater Power Squadron. The Power Squadron's next five-week Boat Smart/Jet Ski Certification Class starts April 26 at the Elks Lodge. GOLF: Elma Meadows and Grover Cleveland golf courses will open May 1 at 6:30 a.m. Tee time reservations open April 25. The fees for golf will remain the same as 2006. . . . The Sheridan and Brighton Park golf courses opened Monday. Golf season passes and town access cards may be purchased at the Paddock Chevrolet Golf Dome, 175 Brompton Road, Monday-Friday between 1-8 p.m.

HOCKEY: North Tonawanda High School club hockey will hold tryouts for varsity and JV tonight at 8:20 p.m. and Wednesday at 8:10 p.m. at Hockey Outlet. Tryout fee is $20. Call Steve Brady at 743-0277.
